How many modules are included in the FPTP?

The FPTP consists of three modules: Business Ready, Government Ready, and Contract Ready.

What will be covered in the Business Ready Module?

The Business Ready Module is designed for students to develop and understand basic business structures. Throughout the course, you will learn fundamental and essential business practices. This module provides you with an understanding of the set-aside programs offered by the federal government and the SBA. Additionally, you will create a sustainable business model and marketing materials for federal contracting.

What will be covered in the Government Ready Module?

The Government Ready Module is designed to assist students in creating a marketing strategy when engaging with Federal agencies. Participants in the Government Ready Module must have completed the Business Ready Module. Throughout this module, you will be exposed to understanding the SBA’s certification programs and required documentation. Our instructors use various federal databases to demonstrate how to leverage those certifications when marketing to the federal government. This course also gives students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience relevant to collaborating, building capacity, and determining the materials required when marketing to the federal government.

What will be covered in the Contract Ready Module?

The Contract Ready Module is designed specifically with a focus on SBA’s Mentor-Protégé Program and the 8(a) Business Development Program. Participants in the Contract Ready Module must have completed GPI's Business Ready and Government Ready Modules. In this module, GPI will focus on the importance for business owners to understand what must be included in their business plan when applying for the Mentor-Protégé Program and the 8(a) Business Development Program. Additionally, business owners will understand how to: build capacity in their business; create a capture management team; identify potential teaming partners and mentors; review RFPs; understand cost proposals; know the accounting systems required when bidding on federal contracts; and much more.

If you are certified in SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program and have not received any contracts, this course will show you where to find 8(a) sole-source contracts and how to market your business specifically for those contracts. This course provides hands-on experience teaching students how to develop an elevator pitch, create marketing materials, produce a six-month marketing strategy, and much more.

Why should I register my business in GPI’s Business Profile Database?

Our business profile database is a membership exchange system. Registering your business in this system is a great way to connect, collaborate, and align with other entities. Our database enables entrepreneurs to build capacity in their business, identify potential teaming partners and mentors, effectively respond and bid on federal contracts, and so much more.
